Cheap Ink Cartridge Prices
Cheap ink cartridge doesn’t necessarily mean cheap print quality. Several issues lie at the base of the quandry of purchasing a cheap ink cartridge. Cost, being the usual priority. Ink cartridges have a price range of $25 to $75, depending on use and brand. Formerly, it was advisable to purchase only the brand of ink cartridge compatible with equipment brand. This resulted in much higher prices of ink cartridge replacements.
Most printers, copiers and fax machines use ink cartridges. A cheap ink cartridge has the sole advantage of cost-effectiveness. In most cases, a cheap ink cartridge offers the same quality as the brand cartridge would. The main issue is whether or not it has been recycled. The problem with cheap ink cartridges that have been recycled is that the buyer may be unaware of how long it has been recycled and whether the replacement of the contents has compromised quality. A very used cartridge can cause major problems with mechanisms in any piece of equipment used for printing and reproduction purposes. Buildup of the ink, which is always in a powder form, can clog parts if the cartridge is old and has leaks or the potential for leaks.
Also, there is the matter of return of the cartridge when it runs out of ink. A buyer must then decide whether the cost to return a used cartridge, if, in fact, cost is the responsibility of the buyer, inevitably results in additional cost. It’s important to check whether or not the seller is responsible or the buyer for returns of used ink cartridges. This automatically drives up the overall cost if the buyer is responsible for mailing costs. Shipping costs often are attached which then makes the price of the cartridge on the same level as a brand name.
It would seem beneficial to purchase an ink cartridge that doesn’t require return but is still recyclable. Because of the ink content in these cartridges, they cannot be disposed of in regular trash. The powdered ink is considered a hazardous material if thrown into regular trash disposal.
Another very good means of determining if the ink quality is adequate is to run a test page to assess the quality of the resolution. Most printers, copiers and fax machines are manufactured with a sample test run for this purpose.
Usually, a reliable office supply company can suggest the best prices for good quality and can direct the buyer to a reputable, less expensive brand.
Obviously, sacrificing resolution quality for price can present a problem if the seller from whom ink cartridges is less than scrupulous about their product. It becomes a choice between poor quality reproduction and saving money. If the former is sacrificed for the latter, there is no real savings realized, particularly when other additional costs are involved.
